The gentle hum of an old gong, once silenced by the challenges of time and nature, is now ringing out with renewed vibrancy at Dhamma Phala in the Philippines. For many old students, the center holds precious memories of silent contemplation and the deep peace of Vipassana. But for a period, the doors of Dhamma Phala were quiet, facing a significant adversary: termites and structural wear.

In 2022, the center found its buildings deemed unfit for use, a difficult moment for the Dhamma in the Philippines. Yet, in the face of this challenge, the spirit of Dana and shared volition shone brightly. Dhamma Phala partnered with VCF to establish the Philippines Relief Fund, a testament to the collective determination of old students to see the Dhamma flourish once more.
With old student volition and support of many, the transformation began. Dormitory buildings were rebuilt, bathroom blocks were renovated, and dining areas were improved. In January 2023, after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic and the extensive damage, Dhamma Phala re-opened its doors and welcomed students for 10-day courses.

But the journey didn’t stop there. The aspiration to create a permanent and spacious home for Dhamma practice continued to inspire. And as of the end of 2024, a new chapter has beautifully unfolded: the construction of the permanent Dhamma Hall was completed. This beautiful, dedicated space now comfortably welcomes up to 50 students per course, allowing even more people to embark on the profound journey of Vipassana.

Looking ahead, the momentum continues. The next step in Dhamma Phala’s evolution is the construction of a new, permanent dining hall. This addition will replace the current temporary structures and further increase the center's capacity, allowing it to comfortably host up to 60 students in each course.
May these ongoing efforts to strengthen Dhamma Phala benefit many. May all beings be happy.
