Completing the Vision for Dhammadicca (Japan): Phase 4

Your generosity helps create a peaceful environment where more people can learn and practice Vipassana — the path to true happiness.

About Dhammadicca

Nestled in the hills of eastern Japan and just 90 minutes from central Tokyo, Dhammadicca Vipassana Meditation Center has been offering courses since 2006. Each year, more than 1,300 students come here to experience Vipassana meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin. Courses are taught in English with full Japanese translation.

Surrounded by nature and silence, Dhammadicca provides the perfect setting for deep meditation.

Our Development So Far

Over the past two decades, Dhammadicca has developed steadily according to a long-term master plan, supported entirely by donations and interest-free loans from grateful students.

By November 2025, we will have completed:

  • A meditation hall

  • Dormitory accommodation for men and women

  • Toilet and shower facilities

  • Server cottages

  • 20 meditation cells

With these facilities, the center can now host 10-day courses for up to 70 students throughout the year.

Phase 4: Building for the Future

Phase 4 marks an important milestone in our development.

Thanks to the generous support of old students, we have completed new en-suite accommodation for male students.

We now aim to:

  • Build equivalent en-suite accommodation for female students

  • Improve walkways and perimeter paths around the center

To construct the new female private-room accommodation building, including all related infrastructure work, 78 million yen (approx. 510,000 USD) is needed.

These additions will help ensure that all students can practice in comfort and safety, surrounded by the peaceful environment that supports Dhamma practice.

How You Can Help

MAKE A DONATION

You will receive a U.S. tax-deductible receipt upon donating. U.S-based individuals can also donate via the PayPal Giving Fund, which doesn’t charge us any fees.

Meditation hall and dormitories

Dhammadicca continues to grow entirely through voluntary donations — dana from those who have experienced the benefits of Vipassana and wish to share it with others.

Your support will help complete the next phase of construction, welcoming more students to experience the path of liberation.

Through each act of dāna, we help the light of Dhamma reach more hearts and minds.
