An Opportunity to Support the Growth of Dhamma in Bali, Indonesia

Dhamma Geha, the "House of Dhamma," is a key center offering courses in this tradition in Indonesia—a country of over 280 million people. The thirst for Dhamma here is immense, and is reflected in long waiting lists of applicants.

Since opening its doors in January 2022, the center has been a beacon of Dhamma, running continuous courses. Built with inspiring speed and dedication in under nine months, the center has expanded in the meantime to include more long-term server accommodations, female servers dining room, small office and a larger kitchen, reaching a current capacity of 60 meditators.

With all courses consistently full and long waiting lists, the opportunity has arisen to secure and expand the center, allowing many more students to benefit from the practice. VCF has opened this fund to support Dhamma Geha with two essential projects:

  • Securing the center: The center is located near a steep ravine, making it vulnerable to landslides. To protect the existing facilities a retaining wall and landscaping work are necessary. The estimated need for the required rights and the construction is $66,000.

  • Expanding the center: To meet the high demand for courses, the center has a vision to purchase an adjacent property. The long-term expansion plan aims to increase the capacity of the center to 120 students and eventually build a pagoda. The estimated need for this initial land acquisition is between $48,000 and $60,000.
