Help Us Build a Lasting Home for Vipassana in Central Brazil
Nestled in the serene Serra dos Pireneus mountains near the Capital of Brazil, Brasília (3rd largest city in population), Dhamma Uyyāna (Dhamma Garden) has become a precious refuge where old students and new meditators can experience the transformative benefits of Vipassana meditation. With a beautiful landscape that nurtures deep inner work, Dhamma Uyyāna is uniquely suited to support more practitioners with expanded infrastructure and enhanced facilities.
Our community of old students, inspired by SN Goenka’s vision, has seen steady growth since our first courses in 2004. Now, with your support, we can continue expanding Dhamma Uyyāna into a fully developed Center that will serve hundreds of meditators each year.
What Your Contribution Supports
Our current projects include:
New Meditation Hall – A dedicated space that will accommodate larger courses and provide a serene, inspiring environment for deep meditation.
Audio, Video & Interview Rooms – Spaces that will support the teacher discourses and provide a private, comfortable area for interviews.
Assistant Teacher Residence – A residence for ATs who guide and support students throughout their courses.
Expanded Accommodations – Accommodations for male and female students.
Dining and Kitchen Upgrades – Expanded dining and kitchen areas to support larger courses and improve the experience for students and servers alike.
Server Accommodations – Dedicated, comfortable spaces for servers who volunteer their time to support course operations.
These essential developments will allow us to offer more courses, including 10-day, Satipatthana Sutta, 3-day, 1-day, children’s and teen courses, fostering greater access to Dhamma for people in the Central Plateau region and beyond.

The Journey So Far
Since 2004, dedicated old students have worked to bring Vipassana to Central Brazil, starting with courses at rented venues, such as Solar Guadalupe in Brasília. Between 2004 and 2012 we had an average of two 10-day courses per year. After years of community effort, in 2012, we were able to acquire land (24.2 hectares) in Pirenópolis. Since then we have held 39 ten-day courses, 110 one-day courses, 1 Satipatthana course, 7 three-day courses, 12 Anapana courses and two Pali courses at the Central Plateau of Brazil. Through shared dedication and support, the first 10-day course was held on Dhamma Uyyāna’s grounds in December 2020. The work completed since then has enabled us to hold more frequent courses with greater capacity and reach.
Our community has tirelessly worked to provide an environment in harmony with nature, preserving the native Cerrado vegetation and fostering an atmosphere conducive to the practice of Vipassana. We now look to the next phase of this journey and welcome all who feel inspired to support this growing Dhamma service.
How You Can Support
Your support can make a lasting impact on this center, which is entirely funded by Dana, the practice of selfless generosity. Whether through financial contributions, volunteering, or sharing this project with others, each act of support brings Dhamma Uyyāna closer to its vision of a sustainable, welcoming home for the practice of Vipassana.
We invite each and every one of you to plant seeds of Dhamma in our flowering garden. By joining us in this effort to spread Dhamma and cultivate peace in Central Brazil you help toward creating a place where countless individuals can come to practice, serve, and strengthen their understanding of liberation and compassion.
