Giving in your will
One powerful way of helping the spread of Dhamma, is by designating the Vipassana Community Foundation in your will as a charitable bequest.
“The mind of the donor is filled with infinite mettā when he thinks—“Because of my dāna, countless people are gaining or will gain happiness by getting this wonderful Dhamma”.”
Passing on the Jewel of Dhamma
When S. N. Goenka dedicated his life to spreading the pure Dhamma, he offered humanity a valuable jewel—the direct experience of liberation through Vipassana. With immense compassion and wisdom, he taught this ancient technique, making it accessible to people from all walks of life. The courses, centers, and communities that have blossomed around the world are the living expression of his boundless metta.
Now, this precious jewel rests in our hands. As old students who have tasted even a little of the peace and equanimity that arise from practice, we carry a responsibility—to preserve the purity of this tradition and to ensure it continues to shine for future generations. One meaningful way to do this is by including your local Dhamma Center or VCF in your will or trust. This allows your generosity to continue even after this life — ensuring that future generations have the same opportunity to learn and practice Vipassana.
A Lasting Contribution
A gift in your will is a powerful way to ensure the Dhamma continues to be available for years to come. You don’t need significant wealth to make a difference. To include us in your estate plan, you can name Vipassana Community Foundation as a beneficiary. Here are a few ways to do so:
A Gift in Your Will or Trust: The most common way to create a legacy is to include a bequest for VCF in your will or living trust. This can be a specific amount, a percentage, or what remains after providing for loved ones.
Donor-Advised Fund (DAF): If you have a DAF, you can easily name VCF as a beneficiary of all or part of the remaining funds, extending your commitment to charitable giving.
Your Retirement Plan: Designating VCF as a beneficiary of an IRA, 401(k), or other retirement plan is a simple and highly tax-efficient way to give, ensuring the full value of your gift supports the Dhamma.
A Life Insurance Policy: Naming VCF as a beneficiary is a straightforward way to make a significant future gift.
Financial Accounts: You can name VCF as a beneficiary for bank or investment accounts. This is often a simple designation that can be made without changing your will.
