Support the Expansion of Dhamma Neru

Dhamma Neru, located just outside of Barcelona, has completed the purchase of an adjacent urban property in 2024. This marked a significant milestone in the center’s journey to further support the spread of Dhamma in Spain and beyond. Thanks to the volition and generosity of old students, this long-awaited opportunity has been realized after nearly ten years of patience and planning—watch the two videos at the bottom of the page to learn more about Dhamma Neru’s progress so far.

Since the purchase of the properties were finalized, the team had to deal with administrative procedures, technical design of the expansion project, initial building works and purchase of required equipment. Finalizing all this, Dhamma Neru has now completed phase 0 of the expansion, successfully increasing the number of students accommodated from 53 to 70.

Future Vision for Dhamma Neru’s Expansion

As the next step, the center is preparing for the construction of new buildings and the renovation of existing ones. Once sufficient funds are secured, these developments will raise the center’s capacity to 108 students—providing also a much-needed improvement in comfort and privacy, particularly for old students and servers.

THE PRELIMINARY EXPANSION PROJECT

A complex of four buildings will be constructed and distributed as follows:

Residences for old students

• Two symmetrical three-story buildings for men and women (18 students per building) with single rooms and private bathrooms.

Central kitchen and LTS building

• 95 m² kitchen, laundry room, storage rooms, office, library, and dining room for staff.

• On the third floor, 8 single rooms for long term servers.

Dining hall and room building

• Connected to the main building but independent, this spacious and bright dining hall has an optimised layout and can accommodate 108 students. It features symmetrical areas for men and women.

This expansion is important, as the center’s current location—situated on protected agricultural land—limits construction possibilities. The newly acquired urban property is a perfect solution, offering ample space for the center’s long-term growth while preserving the natural surroundings.

The Path Ahead

While the first steps of the expansion are now complete, the journey continues. The estimated cost of the entire project is €4.5 million. As of November 2025, a sum of €1,435,000 has been invested. This investment has been covered in large part by loans (€1,067,000), complemented by donations, and savings.
