Support the Expansion of Dhamma Shringa in Nepal
Dhamma Shringa, the Summit of Dhamma, was established in April 1981 as the first Vipassana center in Nepal. Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, it overlooks the serene Kathmandu Valley, just 12 kilometers north of Kathmandu City. This sacred space holds deep historical significance, as S.N. Goenka spent extended periods here and authored many of his books. His residence remains preserved as a tribute to his time at the center.
Spread across nearly four acres, the center can comfortably accommodate about 250 students. It features a variety of residential buildings, from dormitories to single rooms, two separate dining halls for men and women, and several meditation halls. For old students, an 84-cell pagoda provides an ideal setting for deeper meditation.
In recent years, Dhamma Shringa has hosted 39 courses annually, welcoming over 4,500 meditators. Along with the foundational 10-day courses, the center regularly offers long courses of 20, 30, 45, and 60 days, as well as Executive and Satipatthana courses.
Expanding Long-Course Facilities for Female Old Students
A unique opportunity has arisen to expand the long course area for female students by acquiring an adjacent property of 11,969 square feet at a price of $300,000. Currently, the entire long course area is limited to 26 rooms, creating a capacity challenge. This expansion would allow more female old students to participate in long courses and deepen their practice in comfortable and suitable accommodation.
A New Dedicated Children & Teenagers Vipassana Center
Those who have benefited from Dhamma understand the value of offering this path to children and teenagers. While interest in youth courses is strong, they can currently be held only occasionally, as they require single-gender operation and depend on availability at adult centers.
Children & Teenager Vipassana Course for Girls in Nepal
A dedicated Children & Teenagers Course Center near Kathmandu would allow regular, well-planned courses in an environment designed specifically for young minds. Such a center would support the development of sila, mental balance, and wisdom at an early age, helping guide the next generation toward a peaceful and compassionate future. Envisioned facilities include a Dhamma Hall, AT residence, student residences, a multipurpose building, and staff quarters, with the total cost of the project estimated at $3.7 million.
Both of these projects reflect a shared aspiration: to preserve, deepen, and spread the Dhamma, supporting serious practice today while laying strong foundations for future generations.
May the merits of your generosity benefit many!
