Help to Establish Ireland’s First Vipassana Center
After more than 30 years of holding courses in rented venues, the Irish Vipassana Trust is working toward buying a property - a permanent home for Dhamma in Ireland.
A suitable property is estimated to cost between $1.4M and $1.8M. Almost $1M is already in place. This is made up of savings and old student loans ($400k) and donations and a bank loan ($580k)
Around 500 students sit courses in Ireland each year: four 10-day courses, one Satipatthana course, and two 3-day courses. The cost of rent is $58,000 per year.
If you'd like to support this project through a one-time donation, low interest loan or recurring donation, it's possible to do so through the Vipassana Community Foundation. Donations through VCF are eligible for US tax relief on charitable giving. Any support in helping the spread of Dhamma in Ireland for generations to come is greatly appreciated.
Old students are also warmly invited to sit or serve a course at the current location - St. Flannan's College in Ennis, County Clare, just 15 minutes from Shannon Airport, with regular international flights. Two courses are running this summer.
You can read the full details of the project on Dhamma Ireland's Center Establishment website or follow along with the local Irish newsletter.
