Support the construction of the first Austrian Vipassana Center.

Vipassana meditation courses have been offered in Austria since 1997. In recent years, six (non-center) courses have been held annually with about 130 participants and 20 Dhamma servers per course. On average, each course has been oversubscribed by over 100% — with more than twice as many applications from Austria and elsewhere, than available open slots.

The availability of suitable course locations, however, has been limited; with increasing difficulty to meet the growing demand. For this reason, after a ten-year search, in 2017 the Trust in Austria was finally able to acquire a property to begin constructing the first formal center in Austria — called Dhamma Mudita!

The property is located in the Upper Austrian town of Rechberg, and all energy is now being invested in the concrete planning and realization of the new center.

To date, Dhamma Mudita has acquired formal construction permits; and completed construction of the access road, sewers, water, power connections, as well as a temporary dhamma hall and temporary dorms. This culminated in the first three-day course in 2023.

For 2024 the goal is to complete construction of phase 1a so that the center can start offering 10-day courses for 40 meditators. 400,000 euro are needed to complete this phase, and any support from old students to via the VCF Austria Fund is greatly appreciated.
